ACEX 2015 Conference                 9th International Conference on Advanced Computational Engineering and Experimenting, ACE-X 2015, MUNICH-GERMANY

Special Session 8
BIOMECHATRONICS AND APPLIED ENGINEERING FOR THE DESIGN OF PROSTHESIS (SS8)

In recent times Biomechatronics has been defined as an applied interdisciplinary science that aims to integrate mechanical elements, electronics and parts of biological organisms. However, the Mechanical engineering and Biomechanics need to integrate important topics as biology, mechanics, and electronics in order to solve constant problematics of dissabled people. It also considers the fields of robotics and neuroscience. Biomechatronics devices have to be based on how the human body works. For it, the final result on this science is focused on how to help to the human motion or control that was lost or impaired by trauma, disease or birth defects.

Topics of the special session include:

  • Biomedical and surgery applications
  • Biomodeling, simulation and analysis of organic implants, materials and healthy organ (functional unit)
  • Stereolithography (quick prototypes) on medicine
  • Orthotropic materials on prostheses
  • Characterization of implants
  • Orthopaedic designs
  • Biosensors
  • Mechanical sensors
  • Interfacing and prostheses
