DEFORMATION, DAMAGE AND FRACTURE OF FIBROUS COMPOSITES (12)


This special session will focus on deformation and subsequent damage processes leading to fracture of fibrous composites. Recent advances in R&D covering the areas of micromechanics, damage and fracture mechanics, numerical modeling and experimentation will be presented and discussed. We invite you to present and publish your work on fibrous composites, composite laminates and fiber/metal laminates covering but not limited to the following topics:


  • Deformation response
  • Behavior under impact
  • Fatigue and fatigue crack propagation
  • Assessment of damage
  • Mechanisms of failure
  • Residual stresses
  • Design and optimization
  • Reliability prediction
  • Failure analysis
  • Finite Element Method / numerical simulation
